The Ominous Seapods were a nineties jam band spawning from Plattsburgh, New York and eventually settling in Albany, New York. At the height of their popularity, their line up included Max Verna (guitar, vocals), Dana Monteith (guitar, vocals), Tom Pirozzi (bass guitar, vocals), Brian Mangini (keyboards) and Ted Marotta (drums).
The band released its debut CD, Econobrain (1994) and followed up with Guide to Road Side Ecology (1995), their first studio disc. Later releases included Matinee Idols (1998) and Superman Curse (2000). Through continuos touring the Ominous Seapods built up a dedicated national following and performed such notable venues as Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado, the Wetlands Preserve in NYC, and the House of Blues in LA, Boston and Chicago. The band parted ways in 2001 and have since played a handful of reunion shows. Their last performance was in December of 2011.
The Seapods will reunite for TWO PERFORMANCES at THE COHOES MUSIC HALL - FRIDAY, JANUARY 12 & SATURDAY, JANUARY 13 - to celebrate Tom Pirozzi’s 50th birthday.
