Classes & Workshops
The Palace Theatre maintains beautiful rehearsal studios featuring sprung dance flooring, ballet bars, wall-to-wall mirrors and sound systems. These studios offer students a space in which to practice their skills in a series of classes offered across multiple sessions per year. Additional spaces are available at the Cohoes Music Hall to support our ever-growing educational initiatives. Theatrical classes include:
- Dance Classes: We offer on-going sessions incluing ballet, tap & jazz styles.
- Performing Artist’s Workshop: A beginner & intermediate level class, featuring 90-minute sessions, each including 30 minutes of training in acting, singing & dancing.
- Acting I & II: This pair of classes focuses on acting as a singular art form. With training in monologue preparation, improvisation, scene analysis and more, there is a wealth of material for students to learn and put into practice in future productions & auditions.
- Young Voices: Students who have not begun to study with a private voice teacher will benefit greatly from enhancing their vocal and musical skills in this group voice class.
The Palace works with resident production company Park Playhouse to produce exciting, full-scale musical productions at both the Palace Theatre and the Cohoes Music Hall featuring some of the most talented student performers in the area. This season will see productions of A Charlie Brown Christmas, Godpsell and Into the Woods at our venues, with over 70 local students featured throughout the season. This page will be updated with audition information as future productions are announced.
