New coats purchased with donations from the 2021 Cash for Coats program will help keep Albany kids warm this winter.

Mayor Kathy M. Sheehan and Cash for Coats program partners Jack & Mark Yonally of Lodge’s Department Store, Kevin Johnson, Executive Director of the Palace Theatre, Peter Gannon, CEO of United Way for the Greater Capital Region, Burke Companies CEO Tom Burke, Patty Lennox of Elks Lodge #49, Dr. Wladis Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery & City School District of Albany Superintendent Kaweeda G. Adams distributed new winter items collected through the 2021 Cash for Coats Drive to Pine Hills students in need this morning. Cash donations were collected throughout the month of October and early November to benefit the drive, which has distributed tens of thousands of brand new coats, hats, gloves, mittens and scarves to Albany children since 2007. This year over $42,000 was collected for the purchase of over 1,500 coats and more than 3,500 hats/gloves/scarves. The winter items were given out to City School District of Albany children at multiple schools this week.
